I picked this up a few weeks ago after hearing Samantha March (A Youtube Beauty Guru) talking about how much she loved it. She is a huge fan of nude lippies like myself and this shade looked amazing on her so I knew I just had to try it. I found it at my local Walgreens for $4.99 and they had a sale going on where you got $1 off any WW purchase so I scored it for only $3.99. I put it on as soon as I walked into work that afternoon and immediately thought OMG what have I done. My lips felt as dry as a desert and were sticking together so badly that I felt like my customers were staring at my lips when I talked. I tried to wipe it off my lips with a dry paper towel and it didn’t budge. So then I tried a wet paper towel and it still did not want to come off so I ended up just putting a lip oil over it to help try and cover up how dry it made my lips. That helped a little and I was able to wear it for the rest of the afternoon.
The second time I wore this I knew what to expect. So I exfoliated my lips well and then used a lip balm before application and that seemed to help my lips not feel nearly as dry as the first time I had wore it. I think because I hadn’t worn a matte lip in quite sometime I had just forgotten that is how they make your lips feel. The WW is really no different than any of my Color Pop matte lippies, it is just this type of formula seems to be very drying. And that’s why I quit wearing matte lips in the first place. I hate when my lips feel dry and would much rather wear some nice hydrating lipsticks or lip glosses. But with those you have to reapply so often, and with most matte lips they last almost all day, so I thought I might like this for work days, but boy was I wrong.
By looking at the shade in the tube or even at the swatch above it doesn’t look that bad. But once I actually really paid attention to how it looks on me, I almost died! (Okay so that’s a total exaggeration but I was completely embarrassed). And that moment is now on the internet forever, because I wore it my latest youtube video so there is no going back now to change my choice of lippie for filming day. Oh what was I thinking…. It’s bad.
It kind of looks like my lips but dead right?
I read a lot of other peoples reviews on this and the other shades in the collection and this one seems to be most peoples least favorite. Some even described the shade as “concealer like” or too much like their foundation shade. I thought I was going to love this shade but it just doesn’t do a thing for me either. I HATE writing about things that didn’t work for me but hey, it is what it is. I think if you are a fan of matte lips then I would say you might love some of the other shades in the collection. But this particular shade is just very hard to work with since it is so close to a skin tone and some peoples lip color. I will say though that it does have some great staying power and did stay on for a couple of hours, but if I ate a meal or sipped on something it did wear off much faster. So unfortunately for me, this was pretty much a total dud. But, I still love me some Wet N Wild products so I’m sure I’ll find something else new to try from them soon.
LOL!!!!! I laughed so hard reading this post. Sometimes nudes just aren’t great on some. I’ve tried some that are so unflattering, they’re so bad!!!!!
I’m glad you got my bad joke girl! I thought the color looked okay on me but looking back at my video now I am like WHYYYY? LOL
I don’t think it looks bad on you! I always battle finding a nude that suites me so this sounds like every shade I’ve ever tried on but thats just because I have red hair and pale skin :/ I also can’t stand the way matte lip products dry me out, I’ve got to the point where I don’t even bother with them anymore 🙂
I am not a fan of the matte lips any more either but I was hoping this one might not be as drying. Oh well, back to my lipsticks I go. Thanks for dropping by my blog! XO
I don’t think this shade looks bad on you either, but I totally understand how some nudes just look… a little off when applied. This shade actually reminds me of a similar lip color I used to wear during the late ’90s. Maybe that’s what they’re going for! 🙂
My tip is to hold the tube over your lips and look in a mirror. I can’t really wear nudes bc I get the same concealer lips look!
Good idea Elle! Seems like common sense but then my butt never even thinks to try it!
Ha! That is so funny. I know that shade would look horrible on me, as you said – like the dead! I need a nude that has a secondary shade, either pink or peach. Too bad! And when it comes to liquid mattes, the only one I can wear from time to time is Jesse’s Girl. My lips are so darn dry, they protest too much 🙂
I have heard so many people mention the Jessie’s girl Mattes but I don’t have anywhere near me that sells that brand. Guess I am going to have to take a look online and check it out.
Julie, I feel your pain. Last year I tried the NYX Lingerie line and everything looked caked, dried up and DEAD on my lips. LMAO Sometimes formulas just don’t agree. Thanks for sharing. It’s important to share what doesn’t work. It helps others.
