Have you ever heard the old saying “Salt water Cures Everything?” Well, I have and I actually believe in this theory very much. So let me tell you why…
Before I lived in Florida, I suffered from anxiety and stress for years, but I never really talked about it with anyone. My husband and I both had very stressful jobs and I honestly believe that this has played a huge role in us never conceiving. We did everything we could to try and alleviate stress off one another backs but there was only so much we could do since it was mainly our jobs stressing us out. We knew that something had to change and things weren’t just going to “fix themselves.” WE had to take control of our own lives and make some positive work and environment changes to help DE-STRESS our lives. We knew that moving to Florida was going to be very hard and stressful because anytime you move it’s nothing but a headache, much less moving out of state. But we knew in our hearts that Florida is where we were meant to be, so we stepped out on faith and just went with our gut feeling. And our guts told us that we had to do this and make at least one of our own dreams come true. Now I am not gonna sit here and lie and tell you it was easy. Because it was very stressful AND expensive. But again, we were stepping out on faith so we just had to “go with the flow.” Once we got settled here it took a few months for us to get back on our feet and to start getting used to the different type of lifestyle people have here. It truly is a whole different world in comparison to Georgia where we were from. In Georgia, Southern hospitality is a real thing. And evidently in Florida, that doesn’t exist. But that’s not to say that the people here aren’t nice, their just not as “overly friendly” as most Georgians can be.
Now that we have been here for three years this month, I can honestly say that this move has changed both of our lives for the better. It has been one of the hardest, scariest, yet most gratifying and amazing things that has ever happened to us. Being able to live near the beach, and on the Sound is just something that we both have always dreamt of, but yet never truly thought would happen. And I can’t actually explain it, but there is definitely something magical about the Salt life and water. Whenever I began feeling the least amount of stress, all I have to do is either take a 10 minute drive to the beach and dip my toes in the water or walk out my front door down to the Sound. There is just something so calming and almost spiritual about the water. I can’t tell you how many times I have just taken ten minutes out of my day to walk out there or on the beach and it is like the stress literally just melts away from your body. I am sure many of you have felt this feeling yourselves when you have visited a beach before on vacation.
I mean how gorgeous is this view? If you follow me on SnapChat then you have already seen this view, ALOT. Because this is basically my backyard. I live on a small road with only three houses on it and this is the end of our street. We love our landlord and neighbors so much, and they have all become like a second family to us. It is so nice to live somewhere that literally makes your heart so full of joy every time you look out the window.
I am happy, SO happy and content when I am under this tree. This is like my absolute most favorite place on earth now. If only I could learn how to get rid of all the mosquitoes it really would be the perfect place! (LOL) But even with the bugs, I’ll happily take this view any day over my old views back in Georgia. I have become so much calmer, happier and more content with my life than ever before since living here. And I truly think that the salt water has cured me. It has cured not only minor skin ailments and arthritis pain, but so much more. I truly hope that everyone can find a place here on earth that means as much to them as this place means to me. Everyone deserves to feel true and utter happiness and for me, Salt Water was the cure.
