I’m back!!!! Sorry it’s been a few weeks since I’ve had time to post. If I had known that the house next door to the one we had just rented back in February would have come up available, and that we would fall in love with it. I would have prepared some scheduled posts. But that would have just made life too easy. Anyways, I will tell you all in more detail about the situation with our house in my next post. On to my review….
I watched a video from “CoffeeBreakWithDani” a few weeks ago where she did a review on the “ELF Instant Brow Lift” pencil and she really liked it. SO I decided to give it a try since my current fave brow product happens to be quite expensive. And the product I am referring to is the Anastasia Brow Wiz Pencil. I know $21 for a brow pencil may not be expensive to everyone, but when you spend about $200 a month or more on just supplements and medications for infertility, every dollar saved can help. I looked around for the ELF pencil at all of the usual spots that I knew carried Elf products but to no avail. It is nowhere to be found in NW Florida. I’m sure that it’s probably available on their website but I really wanted to look at it in person to make sure I chose the correct shade. When I was in Georgia for my little sister’s graduation a few weeks back, there was an ULTA right by where we were staying so of course I had to pop in. I really didn’t have much extra money to spend since I had just dropped a ton of money on Katie’s grad gifts and this trip. But I did find two little items that I decided I just had to have. One was an OPI nail polish and the other was this new “Micro Brow” pencil from NYX.
I’m not sure when this baby came out, but it’s new to me. This was the first time I had ever seen this product. The main reason it caught my eye and I thought it was really worth a try was because of two little things. #1, it has an ultra fine tip just like my Anastasia Brow Wiz. And #2, it has a spoolie on the end just like my beloved ABW too! So I thought, why the heck not. Plus, it’s only $9.99 instead of $21 like the ABW. And I don’t know about you, but to me, $9.99 is a much better price for a brow pencil in my opinion. There are 8 shades in the collection, so there are a lot of shades to choose from. I chose the ASH BROWN which is a nice soft brown with a slightly ashy undertone. It works perfectly with my skin tone and complexion.
As you can see in the picture above, both the NYX pencil and the Anastasia pencil have a nice spoolie on the end that you can use to separate and comb through your brows with. Now just being honest, I like the Anastasia one just a tiny bit better. It is a little less “stiff” and is just a lot more softer than the NYX. Now with that being said, the NYX one still gets the job done just fine. And it doesn’t hurt or tug at the hairs or anything. I think it boils down to the Anastasia one just having finer bristles on it. But both are equally amazing at separating the hairs and then also smoothing them down once you have filled in your brows. This simple little spoolie contraption really changed my whole brow game for life. Now I just can’t live without one.
As you can see above, both pencils have a very fine tip. Which really makes it super easy to fill in your brows with much more natural looking strokes. It makes it so easy that even people who have very “challenged brows” such as myself can actually do something with them. These both make it so easy that I think even a beginner could benefit from trying one. I have worn the ABW for months now. And then I have been using the NYX one for the past month, and as far as length of wear, and durability, I think they go head to head! Honestly, I think the NYX is just as good as the more expensive ABW. And I would even be willing to put it out there that the NYX MICRO BROW pencil is most definitely a dupe for the ABW. I have loved my brow wiz and all that it has done for my “brow game” but I am a happy new fan of this little baby from NYX and think this is now my new holy grail brow product.
I think that between the amazing $9.99 price tag and the product holding it’s own against the ABW, you just can’t really beat this product. So way to go NYX for creating something that could stand up to the long lived “Queen of Brow Pencils.” If you are like me and loved the ABW but wish to find something just as good but cheaper, then do yourself a HUGE favor and try one of these ASAP. I’m pretty sure that you will be just as impressed as I am.
