I purchased this particular one at my local Walgreens for a whopping $1.97 (Which is the regular price for it.) I didn’t have anything on my lips the day I bought it except some clear balm so as soon as I got in my car I immediately put some on. I ran errands for about three more hours then once I got home, I looked at myself in my large vanity mirror and thought right away, this looks like a dupe for Mac “Candy Yum Yum.” Maybe I’m wrong, but after comparing pictures of the Two side by side, I really think it is.
I will admit this color is a little out of the “norm” for me. I usually stick with Nudes and very Pale, Sheer Pinks. But when I first laid eyes on this, I just immediately thought of bright, fun lips for Spring. I had never purchased a NYC Lipstick before, or not at least that I can remember. And this brand all together is one that I tend to skip over a lot, and I’m not sure why? I recently bought one of their bronzers and I really like it a lot! (Review for that coming soon!) They are priced super afforadable and have a wide selection of products and colors. So why haven’t I picked much from them? I am a drug store queen after all! Well I’m not sure why this was my first NYC Lipstick purchase, but let me tell you what, it won’t be my last!
The pigmentation on this lipstick is amazing and the color stayed true after wearing it for several hours. It does transfer onto my coffee cup a lot though, so beware when using these. When I’m looking for lipsticks, I really want them to be two simple things, a pretty color and non drying. I’m not a super picky girl when it comes to what makes me happy. And this lipstick is both and much, much more!
The color is bright and fun and it only takes one swipe across the lips to get the full effect of the color. I didn’t notice any bleeding with this after 3-4 hours wear, which was really surprising to me for such a cheap lipstick. The scent is very mild and kind of reminds me of candy. And I just happen to love candy so I appreciate the smell of these a lot. The packaging on them is a simple and cute Pink Plastic. But I wouldn’t expect anything more from a $2 lipstick. Once this finally started wearing off, it actually stained my lips and I had to pretty much scrub the rest of it off. I honestly didn’t expect much from this lipstick and definitely didn’t plan on writing a review for it. But after wearing this several times, it seems the more I’ve worn it, the more impressed I become. I have since purchased several more of these and could not be any happier with these purchases. Do yourself a favor and go get you some. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
