Early mornings on the sound are my favorite. I love grabbing a cup of coffee and walking down to the dock to just take it all in and enjoy the view. Over the past few weeks, some of our neighbors have been spotting Manatees each morning around 9am so we have been trying and trying to see one for ourselves. So far we haven’t seen one but I’m still hopeful.
When the sound (or bay) is calm, it reflects the sky like a perfect mirror. I could sit and stare out into the water all day when it looks like this. Early mornings are also great for spotting dolphins having breakfast and it is also the best time for fishing as well. On this particular morning I decided to stay down at the dock to do some reading with Bodie (Our 22 month old chihuahua mix) while Allen decided to take out his kayak and do some fishing.
Bodie loves the water just as much as Allen and I do. Whenever we tell him we are going outside he does this adorable little “happy dance” and lifts up one leg. I swear it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Then his little chunky butt runs as fast as he can down to the water to sit on our bench under the tree. If you follow me on Instagram then you have probably seen where I have posted tons of pics and videos of him down there. (But I can’t stop/won’t stop being that crazy dog mom who takes way too many pics of her baby.)
If you would have told me 6 years ago that I would be living on the bay I would have replied “YEAH I WISH!” But here we are, enjoying life while living in a little old cottage that was built in 1943 and is smaller than any other home we have ever lived in. And honestly, we have never been happier. Life on the sound is truly magical and I appreciate the gift of life and being able to enjoy it here with my little family.
