So it’s pretty much a never ending struggle for all of us beauty lovers to find adequate storage for all of our goodies. Unless you are in the “clique” of Alex 9 drawer owners, then you might possibly have enough room for everything. I unfortunately do not live near an Ikea, nor do I have the room for a lot of furniture type storage pieces either. So, I gotta work with what I got right?
I recently bought two very simple and inexpensive black bookshelves from Target and lined them on either side of my mini vanity. (I call it a mini vanity because it is actually just a re-purposed sofa table). But we’re not here to discuss my little vanity. I needed some storage after moving into this house and I needed it bad. The bookshelves gave a place to “stash stuff” but now I needed things to stash the stuff in. (Boxes, baskets, acrylic storage, etc…) I utilized what I already had and then started trying to think outside the box. I wanted something cute and different. I see so much of the exact same vanity set ups across youtube that it almost gets boring. Now don’t get me wrong, the white Ikea desks and Alex 9’s are amazing for Youtubers and beauty lovers alike. Their just not really “me.” If that makes sense. So my FAVE place to shop for things like this is actually at the Defrance Antique market here in Fort Walton Beach. If your ever visiting here, you MUST GO shop there. I promise it is like a girly girls heaven! They have the most amazing vintage finds I have ever seen. Even my husband likes shopping there and he is absolutely NOT a fan of shopping. So that’s saying something!
Well we were browsing the booths there a few month’s ago and I came across this 3 tiered, server, thingy-ma-bob for just $3. (I’m not sure what correct name is for it.) I picked it up imagining some mini cupcakes on it. (yea cupcakes are one of my many addictions). Anyways, as much as I would love to display lots of sweet, delicious cupcake minis all over it, I am trying not to eat sweets very often now. So there went that idea out the window! Then I envisioned lipsticks laying all over it??? I thought maybe for a minute that I was seriously losing it and that maybe I needed to stay off beauty blogs and YouTube for a minute. But then I realized that this idea was actually a pretty darn cute idea. So I brought it home and it sat in the closet for a few weeks as most of my projects often do. Then I pulled it out and painted it yellow. We had just re vamped our bedroom a bit and decided to use a pop of Yellow as an accent. Well, that didn’t last long. We ended up moving into the bigger beach cottage next door just a few weeks later and we bought a bright Turquoise paint for the master bedroom. And I just wasn’t feeling the Yellow with the Turquoise. So, we chose a new accent color and decided on a gorgeous shade of Coral, off to Home Depot for more spray paint….
After 2 quick coats of Coral paint, my new lippie holder had been reborn yet again!
I think it turned out super cute. And surprisingly, it actually holds a lot of products. I did have some loose jewelry pieces on the bottom until I got a wall holder for them. So this could easily work as a jewelry holder, nail polish holder, or even for eyeshadow singles. I think the possibilities are endless really. I’m so happy about this little $3 purchase. And if I do come across anymore of these at that price, I will be painting them for gifts.
So what do you guys think about it???
Stay Beautiful & Blessed!
