I received this beauty a few weeks back from Pixi for review and I cannot even begin to tell you guys how excited I was when I received the package from them. I have been blogging for a few years now and while I have received plenty of PR packages, I had never received anything from a big brand like Pixi and they were actually my “dream company” to work with since I am obsessed with their products. So as cheesy as this may sound, this was a total dream come true for me!
This versatile compact palette is perfect for tossing in your makeup bag or for traveling. It has a lovely shade range and a couple of key neutrals to help you blend out the looks you create with it. I am in love with the two deep Rust/Orange like shades in this palette (There are no names for the shades that I could find). All 6 shadows in this palette are super smooth and glide on easily, however some of them were a little more powdery than others but that doesn’t bother me at all. The lighter shades make great choices for swiping across your lid or brow bone and the darker shades makes gorgeous choices for your crease. These are not all highly pigmented but they are very buildable.
Pixi Beauty describes this palette as being “Six silky, coordinated, must-have shades to use together or solo plus a double-ended sponge applicator for fast and fuss free application.”
This little gem retails for only $12 and I think that is a total steal considering all that you could do with it. The darker shades in the palette definitely have more pigmentation than the lighter ones but you can use a brush with shorter and more dense bristles to get a higher color payoff on the other shades. There is some kick up with these shadows so beware, but it is nothing serious. So the types of looks you can create with this are numerous and not to mention that most of these shades were chosen specifically because they are “foolproof and eye-enhancing” shades, so you really just can’t go wrong with it.
The above picture is a look that I have been wearing non stop to work almost every other day. It is only 2 shades out of this palette, I use the second Yellow toned shade across my lid and then the fourth shade down which is a gorgeous Orange/Terra Cotta shade in my crease and thats it. If I have time I will run a little of the Darker shade under my lower lashes like I did here as well. This has become my favorite “go to” look lately and if I need to touch up after work I can easily take this palette with me in my makeup bag and don’t have to worry about it opening because it has very sturdy packaging.
So between the nice sturdy packaging to the lovely shade range in it, I think this palette is great for anyone from makeup beginners to more advanced users. Now you can’t sit and judge this type of drugstore shadow to say a Naked Palette or Mac shadow, but for what it is and the price, I think this is a GREAT staple for any collection.
