When I saw this at my local Walgreens I instantly thought that it looked like a dupe for the Urban Decay Better Than Sex mascara so I just had to try it. I have used the BTS mascara before several times and while it is not one of my absolute faves, I did enjoy using it so I kind of expected to really like this one as well. I mean everything about it screams a dupe of the BTS but, is it as good?
I don’t know what it is about Pink packaging but I am always drawn to it. Maybe it’s the super girly look of it or just the fact that it’s a pretty color, either way I probably would have purchased this for the packaging alone even if it didn’t remind me of the BTS. The sleek pink with that hint of gold is just absolutely gorgeous to me.
I am a huge fan of this type of wand so I couldn’t wait to see how much volume and length I could get with this product. Upon first pulling the wand out of the tube, I got a huge blob of mascara on the end that was quite unlike anything I have ever seen with a mascara. I mean, a lot of them do get blobs on the end but this one was like a TON of product. So I wiped it away on a clean paper towel then applied what was left on the brush to my lashes. I have very sparse, thin lashes that take several coats of mascara to build them up before I am happy, but then who doesn’t need several coats?
This wand is perfect for lashes like mine and did do a good job of layering on the product for me. However I did notice that upon applying my third coat that my lashes started to look very clumpy and even started curling up real bad. I have never seen my lashes do that before so I have no idea what exactly made them curl up like that.
You guys, I struggled SO BAD with posting this picture of myself because it looks awful. My textured skin, my uneven, small lips, and all those lines…. GAHHH but hey, that’s the real me and what God gave me to work with. 🙂
Anyways moving on….
“Take Your Lashes To Paradise with voluptuous volume & intense length. Soft wavy bristle brush holds the maximum amount of formula. 200+ bristles catch every lash for a dramatic volumizing effect. Silky smooth formula glides on evenly and easily. This voluming and lengthening mascara delivers a full lash fringe that’s feathery soft. No flaking. No smudging. No clumping. Waterproof mascara. Women Agreed: 3 out of 4 women saw volume and length, 90% said it doesn’t flake, 95% said it lasts all day.”
I have been using this mascara now for a couple of weeks and while I do like it “okay,” I am honestly not overly impressed. I think it is a good mascara overall but it just doesn’t work well for me. I read the reviews on Loreal’s website and they were all 5 star reviews. So then I headed on over to Youtube and for the most part, most beauty vloggers seem to love it too. But I found that it does clump on me, and after I start removing it I see flakes too! Now I forgot to mention that I did get the waterproof version but I don’t think that really makes a difference because most of the reviewers mentioned using this same formula. Maybe I got a dud? I don’t know, but I feel like I am the only blogger/youtuber who is not raving about this. But then as we all know, everyone is so different with the types of lashes we have and what our wants and needs are for a product, everyone is not going to like it. I will not be repurchasing this but I will go ahead and try to finish up using the product. This hasn’t changed my mind or opinion on Loreal products though, I think they are one of my top faves when it comes to great quality drugstore products and that will never change.
