I was browsing at Target a few weeks ago and somehow I ended up in the makeup aisles as I usually do. I picked up one of my fave Elf products that I was restocking and then this new Baked Highlighter and Blush just caught my eye. I am a huge fan of Rose Gold ANYTHING, I mean seriously, give me ALL the things Rose Gold! So of course I had to have it, and at just $4, it didn’t hurt the wallet so I felt absolutely no guilt even tough I didn’t actually “need” it.

Both the highlighter and the blush are actually the type of shades that I always reach for during summer. I tend to go for more of the white gold looking highlights and I love a good coral blush. Even though this particular one is named Rose Gold, I still see it as more of a white gold toned highlight rather than a rose gold. To me a true rose gold would have much more of a golden peach/pink sheen to it. But maybe I’m just not seeing that well (I rarely ever wear my glasses like I’m supposed to) so feel free to correct me if I am wrong ladies.
But no matter what you call the shades, their both just absolutely gorgeous!
These are both very highly pigmented but still not just a “one swipe” type of product. I have to really swipe my brushes along the shades and pick up a lot of product for them to show up on me. And for some reason, whenever I wear blush, my face eats it! What I mean is, that it looks great when I first apply it, and then before I know it, it seems to have disappeared into my chubby cheeks. I have no idea why this happens honestly, I use a setting spray and everything (I guess this is just one of those weird things that you can’t really explain. LOL).
I am wearing both the HL and blush in this photo and you can barely see either. (See, I told you my face eats it!) But I promise it does show up a lot more if you were seeing me in person.
“Create a natural-looking blushed glow with this baked duo. The highlighter helps illuminate the skin with a sheer wash of shimmer , while the blush adds the perfect flush of color. Enriched with jojoba , sunflower, apricot, and grape to help nourish the skin.”

Just a tip in case you decide to purchase this, if you scrape off the top layer a bit the pigmentation really starts to show. This being a baked product they sometimes have that top layer that doesn’t give off much color payoff but once you get down past it you will fall in love with this duo. Or you can also try using the product wet and that makes a huge difference as well. This blush shade reminds me a lot of Milani’s Luminoso and looks very similar on my skin. I have applied the highlighter with both a fan brush, concealer brush and by just using my finger and I honestly prefer to just use my finger and lightly tap it on top of my blush. I have been using this daily for work and have received several compliments about it so I guess it must look pretty good when I am out in Florescent lighting. I think that this product is great for the price and I would definitely repurchase it. I have read several reviews where people did complain about the pigmentation but I really think they just never got past that top baked layer. So if your in the market for a new summer highlighter or blush, or just like to buy all the things like me, you should grab one and give it a chance.
