SPOOKTACULAR Science By The Sea

The Navarre Beach Marine Science Center is having a "Spooktacular Science By The Sea" night this month to raise much needed funds for the facility. They are actually a classroom that is not open to the public but they will let you schedule private tours if you are interested. During the week, the local high school kids are taught marine biology there. And then on evenings and weekends, the high school kids then teach younger children about what they have learned. The facility also does a yearly camp for autistic children that is absolutely amazing. I wanted to get involved and help them out in some way, so I put together a gift basket full of makeup, beauty and hair products and even a few things from bath and body works. It is going to be added to some items that other local businesses have donated to be raffled off to raise money for the facility. I donated the basket on behalf of my blog and the sweet director Heather, who picked up my basket yesterday told me that they are going to add my blogs name on their banner for local contributors. Isn't that awesome? I know it's not much, but Heather seemed very appreciative of my donation and I'm sure that some other beauty lover out there will gladly purchase some raffle tickets for a chance to win my goodies. I love helping out local charities like this one so it felt good being able to help.

For all of you locals who may be interested in this event:

When: October 28th and 29th
Time: 5-9 PM
Cost: $5 Per Person, Children age 2 and under are free

There will be creeps of the deep and an endangered species cemetery, to science that glows in the dark, to many amazing sea creatures to feast your eyes on. You can also explore sea themed stations for treats and experience science by some of your favorite teachers. There will also be a puppet show and dissections by Dr. Spookfish, to a haunted beach walk! This event is kid friendly and they highly encourage you all to come dressed as your favorite animal from the sea.

If Allen and I go, I'm pretty sure he will be dressing up as a shark and I'll be.... A Mermaid, of course!

Hope to see some of my Florida Friends there for this amazing cause! Bring the kids and bring your wallets to buy some raffle tickets!

  4. Julie, I think what you did was absolutely awesome! What a great way to help a local organization. I love their philosophy. We often forget, when we teach a few they will teach others. The learning is passed on. You should feel good! It's going to help them out a lot. Have fun.
